Explosion proof protection: The 3500/50M discrete internal barrier I/O module provides an

inherently safe interface, providing explosion-proof protection for sensor systems directly

connected to the 3500 mechanical protection system. It is suitable for hazardous areas and

provides a convenient and economical solution for installing all types of sensor systems

within hazardous areas.

Installation and compatibility: This module is installed in a dedicated monitor I/O module

and provides an IS grounding connection through the 3500 system backplane. It requires

a dedicated I/O module location, so this monitor location cannot be used for other 3500

system modules. In addition, any rack containing internal barrier modules must have a

3500/04-01 IS grounding module to provide an IS grounding connection for the barrier

module.

Physical characteristics and installation requirements: The internal barrier I/O module has

increased the rack depth by approximately 50 millimeters (2 inches) to provide a physical

separation of 50 millimeters between safe and hazardous area field wiring. A standard rack

with internal isolation modules cannot be installed in a 400mm cabinet.

Application scenario: This module is suitable for industrial environments that require the

installation of sensor systems in hazardous areas, especially in industries such as petroleum,

chemical, and pharmaceutical that require explosion-proof protection
